Who we are
Qalpi is a Peruvian company that offers to the word high quality alpaca knitwear made by hand and by artisanal machines with fine textile finishing. The designs, exclusive and original, are inspired by women who like to dress with style all time and in every event.
The alpaca clothing is characterized by soft texture, light weight; by being durable, biodegradable, adaptable to the maintenance of corporal temperature in cold and warm weathers making it possible dressing with these garments through all the year; and for providing protection against solar radiation.
How we work
Qalpi is focused on procuring the agents, who are part of the supply chain, a proper working relationship and a fair return for services. Additionally, Qalpi looks for promoting the economic and social development among the communities as well as the environmental protection.
Likewise, Qalpi fosters the revalue of the alpaca as a millenary animal original from The Andes, the one that represents the main economic support to Peruvian Andean highlands villages. Thereby, the use of alpaca fiber for knitting drives the economic growth of alpaca breeders´ communities. It should be pointed out that the alpaca, during the fleece shearing, receives a special care, is not abused nor killed and the protocols required by regulations are followed.
Continuing in concordance with the promotion of the community development, Qalpi´s clothing is made by women, head of households, who live in Arequipa with extensive experience, know-how and talent in alpaca fiber knitting. In this way, Qalpi contributes to the development and improvement of their town, as well as to the progress of their families.
